Softside Connect
Documentation
What the app does, and how each part of it works.
What the app does
Softside Connect links your Shopify store to Softside, where artists turn fan designs into merch. It publishes approved merch into your store, and it sends paid orders back to Softside so they get made and shipped.
Before you start
You need a Softside artist account. The app reads the merch that has been approved for that account, so without it there is nothing to sync. Ask Softside if you are not set up yet.
Settings
Settings shows which Softside account your store is linked to. Use Test connection to check the link. It lists the approved merch the app can see, which is the quickest way to tell a broken link from an empty catalogue.
Syncing a product
Sync lists the approved merch for your account. When you sync an item, the app creates the product in your store with its variants, prices and images. Sync it again later to pick up changes made on the Softside side.
Linking a product you already sell
If the item already exists in your store, link it instead of syncing a new one. Linking attaches the Softside item to your product, so orders still route for fulfilment while your history, reviews and URL stay on the original product. Unlinking leaves the product in place.
Orders and fulfilment
When an order is paid, the app sends it to Softside for fulfilment and keeps royalty tracking attached to it. Fulfilment and tracking come back to the order in your Shopify admin. Orders in the app show what was forwarded and what is still in progress.
When something goes wrong
Alert emails about failed syncs and orders go to the Softside team, not to your inbox, and Softside follows them up. If an order looks stuck in Orders, write to tech@softsidemerch.com with the order number.
Uninstalling
Uninstalling removes the app's access to your store straight away. Products already in your store stay where they are. If you install again later, the app starts from a fresh session.
